Sunday School

Whatever the age of children, or the interests of the adults, there is a Sunday School class for you!
This is a wonderful way to allow the Word of God to permeate our hearts and minds.
Sunday school starts at 9:45 a.m. and lasts until 10:30 a.m.

Pam Matthews

Sunday School Superintendent and Teacher, 4's and 5's


Pam Matthews is a very experienced teacher, having spent 38 years teaching public school, and also decades teaching Sunday School. In addition to being our Sunday School Superintendent, she is the teacher for our tender 4 and 5 year old children.


Pam is a very dedicated and committed teacher and administrator!
The current curriculum for our Sunday School classes is Answers in Genesis, for most age groups.

Susan Shepardson

Teacher, 2's and 3's 


Susan has been an educator for over thirty years, is currently working as both a special education supervisor and a principal in our local public school district. She previously taught for 12 years at a Christian School. She loves working with our precious two and three year old children for Sunday School. 


Besides preparing hands-on activities to coincide with Bible lessons for these littlest ones, Susan teamed up with our
church's interior decorator and brightened up the toddler areas with new carpet, paint, furniture and murals!
Our children now have a fresh, new and comfortable learning environment.

Sara Hughey

Teacher, 1st and 2nd Grades


Sara Hughey wears many hats with our youth and is always ready to serve. She teaches 1st and 2nd grade Sunday School, and is currently teaming with her husband for our teen youth group, and she willingly substitutes, as needed.


She has actively engaged our older youth by arranging lots of fun activities and outings. She has also been a Christian
School teacher and Secretary. Her skills are put to good use here!

Sarah Bruder

Teacher, 3rd and 4th Grades


Sarah Bruder teaches 3rd and 4th grade Sunday School students and, in addition, she takes turns with multi-aged groups of children during evening services at Calvary.


She spent many years as a dedicated para-professional in the public school system, and has been ministering as a teacher here for many years, too.


Sarah brings a lot of exciting games and activities to students in her classes.

Teall, Luke and Alandra

Teachers, 5th and 6th Grades


Luke and Alandra Teall work together to teach students in grades 5 and 6. They have been faithfully serving in this capacity at Calvary since 2021.


We appreciate this young husband and wife team and the vitality they bring to our program.

Dale Peters

Teacher, Adult Sunday School


Dale is a gifted and dedicated teacher for the adult class taught in the main sanctuary. He and his family attended Calvary in the 1970's, moved to Colorado for a few years, and returned to West Branch to become president of a local bank in the 1980's.


He has been attending and teaching at Calvary ever since. Dale has also served as 'pulpit supply' when needed, both here and at other churches. Dale teaches with knowledge, experience... and a wit we've come to appreciate!

Dan Matthews

Teacher, Adult Sunday School



Dan Matthews teaches one of our four adult classes. They are currently (summer 2025) working through the book of Matthew, specifically the Sermon on the Mount. Recent studies included the Old Testament books of Jeremiah and Jonah.

Dave Scott

Teacher, Adult Sunday School



Dave and his wife, Ann, have been at Calvary since 1979. They run a local antique store. Dave has been teaching adult Sunday School for around forty years. Dave teaches a book of the Bible at a time, and they are currently still working through the minor prophets.
Any adult is welcome to attend and learn along with this class!

Jim Allen

Teacher, Adult Sunday School



Jim has been at Calvary since 1970. He has been teaching Sunday School for over twenty years.
His class tends toward the young married age group and they usually take a break over the summer, normally resuming in the fall (depending on whether there are enough of that age group interested).

Wendi Addis

Super Sunday School Secretary!


Records, attendance, supplies...Wendi manages it all effectively with grace!  There's a LOT to keep track of with our large Sunday School program and Wendi tackles it with commitment and a smile. We appreciate her organizational skills very much, and she can always be counted on to handle 'the details'!
